ALLAN and CONRAD, Inc. provided structural design services for this Department of Defense (DoD) school project which included classrooms, library, administration, gymnasium, and media center located in Vicenza Italy. The structural design included reinforced concrete walls, beams, columns, precast floor systems, and structural steel roof systems.
This project included several unique design features including:
- Project was designed to meet several criteria including the International Building Code (IBC), DoD criteria, and Italian Law.
- Seismic design included detailing requirements of IBC and Italian Law.
- Design included progressive collapse mitigation required by DoD.
- Blast loads per DoD criteria are included.
- Local construction practices and materials were utilized.
